General Description
Diwali Puja is a sacred Hindu ritual performed during the festival of Diwali, which celebrates the victory of light over darkness and good over evil. The puja is primarily dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, and Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles. Devotees perform the puja to seek blessings for prosperity, success, health, and happiness in their lives. It is customary to clean and decorate homes and workplaces, light oil lamps (diyas), and set off fireworks to welcome the divine energies. The puja involves offering flowers, fruits, sweets, and incense to the deities while chanting mantras and performing aarti. Diwali Puja is a time for expressing gratitude for the abundance in life and inviting positive energy for the year ahead. The celebration brings joy, unity, and a renewed sense of hope and prosperity for all who partake in it.
Diwali Puja is a sacred ritual performed to honor Goddess Lakshmi, the deity of wealth and prosperity, and Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles. The puja is typically performed on the night of Diwali, marking the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. The ritual begins with cleaning and decorating homes and workplaces to create a pure, welcoming environment for the divine presence. Idols or images of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha are placed on a decorated altar, and offerings of flowers, fruits, sweets, and incense are made.
During the puja, devotees chant sacred mantras and hymns like the Lakshmi Ashtakshara Mantra and Ganapati Stotra to invoke the blessings of wealth, prosperity, and the removal of obstacles. Oil lamps (diyas) are lit to symbolize the victory of light over darkness and to invite divine energies into the home. The puja is concluded with the aarti, a devotional song that praises the deities, followed by the distribution of prasad (holy offerings). Diwali Puja is a time for expressing gratitude, renewing hope, and seeking divine blessings for a prosperous, successful, and obstacle-free year ahead.
